Each phase of woodworking has it's own pleasures. Design, rough milling, joinery and finishing, sanding not so much but very necessary for it sets up how good the final finish will be. There are certain woods that lend themselves to furniture making from rough milling to the the final finish; oaks, ash, cherry, walnut and mahogany's are the most common furniture woods. Reclaimed woods such as wormy chestnut, oak and ash make beautiful furniture. One of the greatest pleasures in building furniture is to watch the wood come alive as the finish is being applied.
